In order to help you find the best juicer for your needs, we researched, reviewed, and compiled this list of our picks for the top 10 best juicers. This list features of best juicers of their respective categories.

This list took a lot of time and effort, so we hope that you enjoy it and find your perfect juicer!

#1 - Best Rated Juicer:

Hamilton Beach Pro Juicer Machine

Key Features

  • 800W of performance power
  • Designed to preserve nutrients
  • extra-large 3-inch feeder chute
  • extra large pulp waste container

Excellent performance ability. Fantastic juice yield. Great price. These are the main reasons why the Hamilton Beach Pro Juicer Machine is our pick for the number 1 best juicer on the market.

With this juicer, you can expect to make healthy, homemade juice in just a few seconds. It’s a centrifugal juicer, meaning that your juice is not only prepared quickly but also has a super smooth texture; none of the pulpy texture is present here.

It’s pretty easy to assemble too. Just attach the extra-large pulp bin to the bin, plug it in, load it up, and start juicing. The pulp bin is large enough to hold the remains of several ingredients so that you can load up the juicer without worrying about overloading it.

This juicer comes with a highly-favored feature in its 3-inch feed chute. That’s a very big feed chute, especially for a centrifugal juicer. You can fit a whole apple, a handful of kale, or even a peeled lemon/orange.

This speaks to the power of this appliance, as it needs a lot of it to extract juice from whole fruits. You don’t have to worry about prepping your ingredients either since any seeds or unwanted leftovers will be caught in the pulp bin, meaning more time saved on your part.

This juicer comes with 800W of power, which is enough power to juice dense veggies like beets. One beet can be turned into a drink in just a few seconds. This power is also sufficient to handle stringy celery, tough wheatgrass, ginger root, carrots, and other hard-to-juice ingredients.

Despite its power, it’s also built to resist transferring heat into the juice, preserving as many nutrients as possible.

A 20 oz. juice cup comes included with the purchase of this juicer, which is the expected approximate yield. That’s a hearty amount of juice for even the most passionate juice drinker and can definitely be a snack all on its own.

So if you are looking for a juicer that’s solidly simple, flexible in processing ingredients, and is labeled with a great price, then we heartily recommend checking out the Hamilton Beach Pro Juicer Machine.

#2 - Overall Best Masticating Juicer:

Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor

Key Features

  • 80 RPM to promote better juice quality
  • Dishwasher-safe parts
  • up to more 90% juice yield
  • Quiet juicer

The Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer is the best masticating juicer on the market. Even though it's pretty high quality, it’s also reasonably priced and serves as a great entry appliance for people who are serious about getting the most out of their fruit and veggie juice.

It uses a 7-segment spiral that’s designed to get the most juice out of your ingredients, getting up to 90% more juice yield when compared to other juicers of the same type. It also cuts down on oxidation, keeping your juice fresher for longer periods of time.

The entire process is operated at a consistent 80 RPM in order to reduce heat and friction, which preserves vitamins, nutrients, minerals, trace minerals, as well as enzymes.

More nutrition for you to enjoy. You can expect your juice to be completed within 5 minutes.

And if you are put off by the idea of having your juice be pulpy, we get it. And the people who made this juicer get that too. That’s why this juicer comes with a pulp separation function that separates the pomace (the pulpy residue) from the juice.

You get juice with less pulp and great taste, which is a win-win in our book.

This juicer is made with PMMA (Tritan) material, making it both durable and safe; it’s the same material used for infant products in Europe and North America (100% BPA-free).

You don’t have to worry about clean up either; the parts involved in juicing come are dishwasher-safe and very easy to clean. You can also take advantage of the “reverse function” that helps to release leftover ingredients and keeps the machine clean.

And the cherry on top? It’s actually pretty quiet when it’s actively juicing. You won’t have to worry about waking people up or disturbing anyone’s routine. Just toss in your fruit and veggies of choice, turn on the juicer, and let the magic happen.

Make sure that you don't overload the feeder though, as it's been known to make a high-pitched noise if there are too many ingredients in the feeder chute. You'll also need to prep all of your ingredients in advance since the feeder chute is a bit small.

When all is said and done, this juicer is pretty fantastic. As such, we definitely recommend checking out the Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer.

#3 - Best Premium Masticating Juicer:

Omega Juicer NC800HDS Juicer Extractor and Nutrition Center

Key Features

  • 1491 Watts of Performance Power
  • 80 rPM to promote better juice quality
  • doubles as a "nutrition center"
  • dual-stage extraction system

If you are serious about getting the absolute most out of your juice or are looking to splurge a little on a premium juicer, then you’ll need to check out the Omega Juicer NC800HDS Juicer Extractor and Nutrition Center.

It’s truly amazing.

Like other masticating juicers, it uses the optimized 80 RPM in order to minimize the build-up of heat and reduce oxidation. By doing so, the juice is fresher, tastier, and packed with more nutritional content than your typical juicer can achieve.

But unlike other masticating juicers, this one utilizes an exclusive dual-stage extraction mechanism. The auger system pushes produce into a small, tight chamber. Inside this chamber, the produce is ground into a pulp, pressed, and squeezed into high-quality juice.

And yes, you can even do this with fine ingredients like wheatgrass.

You can even enjoy continuous juicing thanks to the convenient automatic pulp ejection feature. As juicer grinds, presses, and squeezes, any pomace will be pushed out and into a separate container (the container comes with the juicer).

There is an adjustable end cap that has a few settings that, when used properly, help you get maximum juice output and extraction yield.

The motor itself is remarkably strong with 1491 Watts. That’s equivalent to roughly 2 horsepower, which is insane for a juicer to have. With that kind of power, you won’t have to worry about getting juice out of even the toughest of ingredients.

The best part about this juicer is that it’s not limited to just juicing. It doubles as a “Nutrition Center”, which extends its usefulness to a new height.

Here are some examples of things you can do with the Nutrition Center:

  • Grind coffee
  • Make nut butter from nuts
  • Make baby food
  • Prepare frozen desserts
  • Extrude pasta
  • Prepare soy milk
  • Mince garlic and herbs

Finally, you get access to 6 different nozzles that extend your juicing variety as well as 2 juicing containers so that you can have something to put your juice and pomace into (if you don’t want to use cups).

So if all of that sounds as amazing to you as it does to us, then we recommend checking out the Omega Juicer NC800HDS Juicer Extractor and Nutrition Center.

#4 - Best Budget-Friendly Masticating Juicer

Homgeek Cold Press Juicer

Key Features

  • 16 oz. juice yield
  • comes with filter and cleaning brush
  • Good performance at great cost
  • Dual-stage extraction system

If you want a masticating juicer that won’t burn in a hole in your wallet, then consider taking a look at the Homgeek Cold Press Juicer. It’s a pretty good juicer that comes equipped with simple, yet effective features at a reasonable price.

This juicer only has two operations: forward and reverse. Pressing “forward” makes the juice while pressing “reverse” helps to clear out ingredients that may be stuck in the juicer. The reverse function really makes clean up easy and you can clean the entire juicer in about two minutes.

It has an average juice yield of 16 oz, which is a good yield for anyone who juices directly into a juice. It’s a hearty amount of juice, so you won’t need to worry about not leaving any juice in the pomace. The leftover fruit and veggie (pomace) is very dry after extraction and is a clear indicator that nearly all the juice has been extracted.

It makes this juice by using a dual-stage extraction system at 80 RPMs, preserving vitamins, nutrients, minerals, trace minerals, as well as the overall nutritional value. This is especially good for those of you who are getting a juicer for the health benefits.

Like other masticating juicers, this one has no problem juicing up wheatgrass, vegetables, and a large variety of fruits. Just make sure that you cut up your ingredients before tossing them into the wide-mouth feeder chute in order to get the best results.

The juice can be stored up to 72 hours and will still be remarkably fresh.

As for assembly, it’s pretty simple. There are only a couple of detachable parts that you can click-n-lock together. No screws or anything like that required.

The parts themselves are made of materials that are considered “food grade”, meaning that they are resistant to corrosion and completely BPA free. This is reassuring since you won’t have to worry about drinking unwanted chemicals or worn-down parts in your juice (gross).

Included are an extra-strong filter and small brush for easy cleaning. Having that brush will seriously make clean up much easier (and safer), we can guarantee that.

If you are in the market for a masticating juicer that can get the job done at a great price, then you need to check out the Homgeek Cold Press Juicer.

#5 - Overall Best Centrifugal Juicer

KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machine

Key Features

  • versatile RPM rates
  • 1200 watts of performance power
  • specialized saw blades
  • easy assembly

If it’s a speedy juicer that you are looking for, then we strongly recommend getting one that can process a lot of juice without quickly wearing down. And after comparing so many centrifugal juicers, we’ve discovered that the KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machine stands above the rest.

This juicer has a motor that contains 1200 Watts of impressive performance power, meaning that it can reach high spinning speeds very quickly. We say that this is great because you can get more juice out of your ingredients with higher RPMs, which a stronger motor allows for.

There are two gears + a pulse mode that you can choose from.

You have a “low speed” option that runs from 12,000 to 15,000 RPM for softer ingredients like tomatoes and oranges. You also have a “fast speed” option that runs from 15,000 to 18,000 RPM, which is good for juicing harder ingredients like celery, beets, carrots, kale, and so on.

The pulse mode is good for chewing (breaking down) hard fruits and veggies. It also helps with making sure that your juicer doesn’t get clogged up with pomace.

The motor itself is made of pure copper, making it efficient and incredibly durable. You can expect your motor to last you up to 10 whole years – an entire decade! Other motors may last you a year or even a few months before breaking down, so it’s nice to see one that has some longevity to it.

But what is a motor without good grinding blades? Thankfully, this juicer has that covered too.

It comes with 13-row, evenly distributed saw pointed blades. The blades are sharp and manage to grind both fruits and veggies into juice without any trouble. The way that the blades are distributed makes the process more delicate and precise, maximizing juice yield.

The pulp is minimized thanks to a titanium-plated precision filter.

The juice yield is dependent on the ingredient being juiced. Here’s a quick reference list:

  • Hard veggies (carrots, beets, etc.) – 50% to 68%
  • Moderately hard veggies (celery, etc.) – 80% to 85%
  • Hard to moderately hard fruits (apples, apricots, etc.) – 65% to 73%
  • Soft fruits (oranges, lemons, etc.) – 78% to 85%

These are solid numbers for a centrifugal juicer, and you can juice with confidence knowing that you are getting the most out of your ingredients relative to the super-quick extraction time.

This juicer also comes with an extra-large (3-inch) feed chute that lets you juice entire fruits (like apples) and veggies without needing to slice them into small pieces. Less time spent cutting = more time saved.

Just make sure that the ingredient of choice is still small enough to fit inside the chute.

Putting this juicer together pretty easy too, though we’ll say that it’s probably a bit more complicated than other juicers. It’s a six-step process that only requires that you connect the pieces together. No screwing or hammering necessary.

This is a compact juicer, which means that it doesn’t take up much space on your countertops. It’s also easy to store as is or taken apart, so you can find a spot for it anywhere in your kitchen.

Cleanups are a breeze. It’s equipped with a round head brush that cleans every inch of the filter as not to leave any pomace. And if you prefer to do it yourself, disassembly is quick and painless. Cleaning the filters of juicers has always been a huge pain, so it’s nice to have one that makes the process much easier for us.

We could go on and on, but we think that we made our point.

The KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machine tops our list for the best centrifugal juicer, and we believe that you would be missing out if you didn’t check it out right now.

#6 - Best Premium Centrifugal Juicer:

Breville BJE430SIL The Juice Fountain

Key Features

  • 850 watt performance power
  • reduces heat generation
  • extra-wide feeder chute
  • safety-mechanism included

Sometimes you need a little more out of your juicer. If you are willing or able to invest more of your budget into the quality of your juicer, then you can really leverage the power of a top-tier centrifugal juicer.

The Breville BJE430SIL The Juice Fountain offers similar performance to that of a high-quality masticating juicer while providing the speed that you can only get with a centrifugal juicer.

This juicer uses patented “cold-spin technology” that works a bit differently than traditional centrifugal juicers. Juice flows up and through a stainless-steel cutting disc that is surrounded with a mesh filter (Italian made).

This filter reduces the heat generation and keeps your juice cool, which preserves nutrients and cuts down on oxidation (which is the foamy stuff that’s often found in blended drinks), keeping it fresher for longer periods of time.

And unlike masticating juicers, it doesn’t take long for your juice to be prepared. You can expect to enjoy your juice within just a few minutes after adding your ingredients.

And adding ingredients is easy too. This juicer comes with an extra-wide whole feed chute (3-inch) that lets you juice whole fruits and vegetables without any prior prep so long as the ingredient can fit.

The motor uses 850 Watts of power, which is an excellent level of power for juicing up pretty much any fruit or veggie. You won't have to worry about unprocessed ingredients like with some other juicers out there.

As for speed controls, you can access two speeds.

“High speed” is designed for harder, denser fruits and veggies and will utilize 13,000 rpm to ensure maximum juice extraction. “Low speed” is designed for softer fruit and/or leafy vegetables and will utilize 6500 rpm.

A higher rpm is good for cutting and grinding through harder materials. But a higher rpm isn’t effective for softer fruits and/or leafy veggies because that speed tends to leave a lot of juice for these ingredients. A lower rpm ensures that every drop of juice is extracted for your softer, less dense ingredients.

Any leftover pulp and pomace are left in a 3.4 Liter bin container. The size of this container is a big plus because it can hold a lot of the waste without needing to be changed often. That means you can continuously juice without having to pause to empty and clean the container, saving you a lot of time in the long run.

You can also take advantage of a 70-ounce juice jug that comes included with the juicer.

If you have any leftover juice, you can put in in this jug and store it in your fridge for up to 3 days for the freshest results. The lid is designed to seal in the juice and further help in preserving the freshness of the juice.

Cleaning up is simple. The juice cover, purée disc, juice jug, and filter bowl are all dishwasher safe. The rest of the juicer can be cleaned easily with a sponge, but we recommend getting a dedicated cleaning brush if you really want to make the process a breeze.

And if safety is a concern for you, this juicer has you covered. It uses safety locking arms that stops operation in case your cover isn’t locked in properly. A centrifugal juicer without a well locked-in lid is a recipe for a huge unwanted mess, so this feature ensures that this does not happen. This can potentially save you a lot of time spent cleaning up an easily avoidable mess.

This juicer is amazing, though it has some criticisms. Some customers have reported that this juicer tends to leave behind wet pulp, which is an indicator of lost juice. These reviews have been the minority among many favorable ones, but we feel that you should be aware.

If you are looking for a truly high-quality centrifugal juicer that you can depend on (as long as it fits your budget), then you should check out the Breville BJE430SIL The Juice Fountain.

#7 - Best Budget-Friendly Centrifugal Juicer

Aicook 2019 Upgrade Centrifugal Juicer

Key Features

  • 400 Watt Performance power
  • 3-layer mesh filter
  • multiple safety mechanisms
  • 3 different speed options

The Aicook 2020 Upgrade Centrifugal Juicer is a great centrifugal juicer for people who are looking for a more budget-friendly option that comes with great features and solid quality.

Looking for healthy, homemade juice in just a few seconds? That’s easy for this juicer.

It comes with corrosion-resistant, food-grade blades that are excellent at chopping up your ingredients into tiny bits.

The pressure from the centrifugal force will push these bits into the three-layer mesh filter from which the juice will be extracted. The best part about this is the fact that the filter is three layers because it processes your ingredients threefold.

That means 3x less pulp, 3x less foam, and tastier juice for you to drink.

The 400 Watt motor is a good level of power for juicing up most ingredients. It lets you choose from 3 different speeds from fastest to slowest:

  • P – The fastest speed (18,000 RPM): Good for when you need to process tough ingredients.
  • II – High speed: Good for carrots, apples, celery, ginger, spinach, etc.
  • I – Low speed: Good for oranges, grapes, melons, peaches, tomatoes, etc.

Like other juicers on this list, this one utilizes a 3-inch wide feeder chute that will let you process whole fruits and veggies without the need to slice, chop, or prep them in advance, saving you a lot of time in the process.

And to make your life just a bit easier, it comes with a special brush designed to clean the hard-to-reach areas of your juice. For us, this brush is a lifesaver since juicers are notoriously difficult to clean without one.

This juicer is made with materials that are designed to safely interact with food. That means you can expect your juicer to be 100% BPA-free. Like with other Aicook products, this juicer has been tested by the ETL and has FDA certifications, further proving its claims of being a safe product.

There are also two safety mechanisms built into the machine.

The first one is that the juicer will not operate without the covering being locked into place. We can always appreciate this mechanism because it saves us from a potential disaster of a mess that can take a long time to clean.

The second one is that the juicer will automatically shut down if it senses that the machine is overloaded. An overloaded juicer is a big problem because it’s effects can be damaging to the juicer itself as well as to the juice quality.

Having a mechanism in place to prevent overload extends the juicer’s lifespan and helps to preserve the quality of the juice (less pulp in your juice).

Most juicers won’t reach the market without passing safety requirements, but it’s nice to have a juicer that goes above and beyond in order to ensure that its users are as safe as can be.

And since it’s a compact juicer, it doesn’t take up a lot of space on the counter and is easily stored. This is especially useful for people who don’t have a lot of space to assign to appliances like in apartments.

As for customer reviews, they’ve been stellar. The most recent ratings have been mostly 5-stars with a few 4 stars here and there (which you can find if you click the button below). So if you don’t believe us, you can take their word for it!

If this all sounds great to you and you are ready to start juicing without spending a fortune, you need to check out the Aicook 2020 Upgrade Centrifugal Juicer.

#8 - Overall Best Citrus Juicer:

Pohl+Schmitt Deco-Line Citrus Juicer Machine

Key Features

  • Great Juice Yield
  • Two cone heads for different fruits
  • Juicer container w/markings
  • mostly dishwasher-safe

If you are looking for a juicer that specializes in high-quality juicing of citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, and more, then you will need to check out the Pohl+Schmitt Deco-Line Citrus Juicer Machine.

Most citrus juicers are pretty simple devices that rely on manual turning to extract juice from your fruit. But this one uses a powerful motor to do all of the twistings for you. All you need to do is cut your fruit in half, press and hold it against the juicer, and turn the juicer on.

It will extract all of the juice for you within seconds.

And you won’t have to worry about drowning in the pulp. There is a fixed filter that collects pulp while the motor is busy juicing your fruit, giving you the option to do with it as you will.

You can easily dispose of it or, if you so wish, use it in other healthy recipes. No sense in automatically wasting nutritional value, right?

Speaking of nutritional value, this juicer helps you get plenty of it. Citrus juice is a great source of vitamins and minerals. They are also jam-packed with the nutrition you need to be energized throughout the entire day.

And since the juice is quickly digested, the nutritional goodness is soon absorbed by the body (which is great for people who need that extra “boost” during the day while on the go).

And to make the juicing process simpler than ever, this juicer comes with two juicing cones of different sizes: small and large.

The small juicing cone is fitted to juice smaller fruits like lemons and limes. The large juicing cone is best for larger fruits like oranges and grapefruit.

While either cone works for either size of fruits, it’s still very useful to have cones for different sizes. This is because matching the right size fruit to the right cone increases juice yield while also decreasing the time needed to fully extract the juice.

Be aware that some customers have reported that especially large citrus fruits tend to struggle even with the large cone.

Despite this, repeated pressing of the fruit onto the cone head still yielded tasty juice. If you plan on juicing a lot of very large citrus fruits, you might have to put it a bit more manual work in order to get the juicer to properly operate.

This juicer also comes with a large 1 Liter juice container with handle and measure markings. For recipes that call for juicing, this is a great help since the markings tell you exactly how much juice you have.

You won’t need to pour the juice into a separate measuring cup, saving on clean up time.

Finally, cleaning up afterward is a simple task. Every non-electric part is dishwasher safe.

The parts that can’t go in the dishwasher can be cleaned with a brush (recommended) or sponge.

It’s simple, effective, and is available at a really good price. So if you are looking for a citrus juicer that works well and pumps out juice quickly, then we recommend taking a look at Pohl+Schmitt Deco-Line Citrus Juicer Machine.

#9 - Best Premium Citrus Juicer:

Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press

Key Features

  • Powerful, whisper-quiet motor
  • excellent juice yield
  • 1-size-fits-all, acid-resistant cone
  • ergonomic pressure handle/arm

The Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press is one of the best semi-automated citrus juicers on the market. Period.

While pricey, you are definitely getting what you are paying for with this juicer. If you are big on citrus juices and are serious about leveraging the full potential of juicing, then you will need to check this one out.

This juicer uses a motor that is packed with “industrial-strength” performance power. Basically, it means that juicer doesn’t mess around when it comes to getting the most out of your citrus fruits.

You can expect a high percentage of juice yield with this juicer thanks to this motor.

The motor, while powerful, is also incredibly quiet. Operation is whisper-quiet, meaning that you can juice without disturbing you or anyone else.

You can juice first thing in the morning or right before bed even if you have roommates.

The cone is a 1-size-fits-all Quadra-Fin that’s designed to extract the maximum amount of juice possible from each and every citrus fruit. The size doesn’t matter thanks to its uniquely finned and undulated shape; the shape allows it to work well on any citrus fruit of any size.

Not to mention that the cone is made of acid-resistant materials, making it usable for a lifetime of juicing fruits that often contain corrosive citric acid.

And yes, it’s entirely dishwasher-safe.

There is a juice press arm that ensures that there is downward pressure from the start of the juicing process to the very end. The arm is ergonomic and leverages pressure well, which is useful considering that the arm will need to be manually held down during operation.

If you accidentally let go of the arm while the juicer is active, then a safety switch will be triggered and immediately stop all operations. No hassle, no mess, no headache.

The safety switch will also prevent the juicer from starting if there isn’t enough pressure.

Attached to the juicer is a drip-stop juice spout. Like many juicers, this is where you would pour out your juice. But the “drip-stop” design is fairly innovative in that it holds juice back to avoid any spills and/or accidental pours that could end up on your kitchen countertops.

Just this little feature can help you spend much less time cleaning up.

And with two filters, you can control how much pulp gets into your juice. Whether you choose a little pulp or no pulp at all, know that you will have the power to make that choice.

And as much as we’ve sung this juicer’s praise, we have to also acknowledge its faults. Several customers have voiced complaints that some parts feel a bit cheap and that the juicer tends to overheat after extended use (5-10 min).

But we feel as though all of the benefits you get with this juicer outweigh the negatives by a large margin. So if you are looking to splurge a bit on an amazing citrus juicer or are serious about citrus juicing (plan to use it every day, multiple times a day), then we recommend that you check out the Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press.

#10 - Best Budget-Friendly Citrus Juicer:

BLACK+DECKER 34oz Citrus Juicer

Key Features

  • inexpensive, budget-friendly
  • good juice yield
  • etched measurement markings
  • storage cover lid

If you are looking for a citrus juicer that you can pick up with just a few bucks, then you should check out the BLACK+DECKER 34oz Citrus Juicer. It’s a simple citrus juicer that doesn’t offer a lot of bells-n-whistles but functions well.

It uses a 30 Watt motor to process small citrus fruits without much fuss. There is also a large cone that you can swap with depending on the size of your fruit. The juice yield is actually pretty good, which is substantiated by a plethora of positive customer reviews.

Since the motor is fairly low-powered, it might struggle with larger citrus fruits even with the larger cone. Lemons and oranges will work just fine provided that they are small enough, but grapefruit are questionable.

Also, please note that the motor is fairly noisy. It’s not going to blow your ear drums off, but you should be aware that it will generate a considerable amount of noise.

You can adjust how much pulp you want in your juice thanks to the built-in adjustable pulp control. There is a pulp basket that collects most of the unwanted pulp, allowing you to reuse it or throw it away.

There are measurement markings directly etched into the juicing container, making it easy to determine just how much juice you have. This is especially useful for recipes that call for a certain amount of juice since you won’t need to re-measure it outside of the container.

There is also a standard pour spout that offers some drip-free protection that cuts down on accidental spills. And since this is a corded juicer, all parts except for the cord itself are dishwasher-safe.

When it’s time to store the juicer, you can put on a storage cover (comes included) to prevent dust and debris from getting in.

There’s not too much to say about this one. This juicer feels to a bit on the cheaper side in terms of feel and composition, but we can safely say that it works well.

If you are looking to pick up a low-priced citrus juicer and don’t mind a bit of manual labor, then we recommend checking out the BLACK+DECKER 34oz Citrus Juicer

As you can see, there are a ton of juicers out there and each of them tend to fall under certain categories. Unless you know what these categories are and how they function, picking the right juicer can be a major headache.

And we certainly don't want any headaches around here! That's why you can use our list of points below that we consider when choosing the perfect juicer.

We definitely recommend taking a quick glance. Or a longer one, if you are into it. We don't judge.

What to Look For When Picking a Juicer:

Type of Juicer

Different Types of Juicers With Small Fruit

This is definitely the most important point that should be considered when picking your perfect juicer: the type.

There are 3 main types of juicers:

  1. Masticating Juicers (Also Known As Slow Juicers)
  2. Centrifugal Juicers (Also Known As Fast Juicers)
  3. Citrus Juicers

Each type of juicer specializes in a different "way" of juicing.

Masticating Juicers

Masticating juicers are also called slow juicers (and cold-pressed juicers) due to how they prepare juice. They use gears and pressure systems to grind fruits and veggies into a juice. This juice is more pulp-y and typically contains more nutrients since this method doesn't generate as much heat, which otherwise destroys nutrients.

Masticating juicers are best for hard fruits and veggies that require the higher degree of processing that grinding provides.

PROS

CONS

  • Processes Thicker Fruits and Veggies
  • Makes a more nutrient-rich juice
  • Very quiet operation
  • the most powerful type of juicer
  • Takes longer to make juice
  • harder to clean
  • typically more expensive
  • Can struggle with softer fruits

There are a few downsides to consider.

These juicers is that they are typically much slower than other juicers since grinding takes time. These juicers are also typically harder to clean since they have more parts that are dirtied during juicing. They also tend to be not as efficient with softer fruits like mangoes.  Finally, these juicers tend to be more expensive than other juicers, which can be off-putting for beginners or people who are on a budget.

If you value nutrient content, don't mind waiting a bit longer, aren't put off by the prices, and plan on juicing a lot of veggies in particular, then masticating juicers are definitely the best option.

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers are also known as fast juicers. Their function is similar to that of a blender; centrifugal (spinning) force works with a flat cutting blade to slice the product into tiny pieces. These pieces are pressed against a juicing strainer thanks to the same force, and the juice is effectively squeezed out of the fruit pieces.

This type of juicing is optimized for pre-cut fruit since smaller pieces are easier to cut. This isn't a necessity though so long as the fruit can be sliced by the flat cutting blade, which isn't a problem for most common fruits.

Centrifugal juicers create juice that is lacking in pulp and overall smoother since the pulp sticks to the interior walls, all without getting through the strainer. These juicers make their juice quite quickly as well, making them a valuable asset for a quick, easy, and healthy beverage.

And at an affordable price, centrifugal juicers are pretty great for beginners or people looking to save a bit of money.

PROS

CONS

  • Processes common Fruits and veggies
  • Makes Juice very quickly
  • more compact and easier to store
  • typically Less expensive
  • juice typically contains less nutrients
  • Typically breaks down more easily
  • Very noisy operation
  • Juice is "oxidized" and expires faster
  • struggles with harder fruits and veggies

These juicers have downsides as well. Since the centrifugal force generates heat, a fair amount of nutrients in the juice actually end up being completely destroyed. This means that, on a nutrient level, the resulting juice isn't as healthy as it could be, which could be a turnoff for health-conscious people. And since so much oxygen is contained in the resulting juice due to the spinning, the juice itself is oxidizing and won't stay fresh for very long

And while these juicers aren't as expensive, keep in mind that you get what you pay for. The materials can be cheaper and thus break down more easily, which could actually end up costing you more money in the long run.

Finally, they are very noisy machines when they are actively juicing. This isn't a huge problem since they juice pretty quickly, but it's something to take into consideration if your environment isn't noise-friendly.

But if you don't mind the cons and value a juicer that can get the job done quickly, then you can't go wrong with a centrifugal juicer.

Citrus Juicers

Citrus juicers, also known as lemon juicers, operate a bit differently from the other two juicer types. You can either manually grind a citrus fruit into the cone-shaped head to produce juice or use an automated citrus juicer that does the grinding for you.

Automated citrus juicers tend to use pressure and grinding that's similar to masticating juicers, except they are optimized for citrus fruits. The fruits are twisted into the reamed head, extracting the juice from each twist.

The resulting juice can be either pulp-y or smooth depending on your choice of citrus juicer. This juice is jam packed with nutrients and is a great compliment to any meal.

PROS

CONS

  • Processes common citrus Fruits
  • Makes Juice quickly
  • more compact and easier to store
  • typically Less expensive
  • Difficult to completely clean
  • Can make a large mess
  • Some prep is required
  • can only process citrus fruits

Citrus juicers tend to be messy when they are manually operated. This can be bypassed by using an automated juicer, but you still need to prep each citrus fruit that you want to juice.

You'll also need to take the efficiency of your automatic juicer into account. If it's not very efficient, then you'll be leaving valuable juice behind. If it's too efficient (yes, that's a thing), then the inner skin of the fruit will also be ground into the juice, which results juice that tastes more bitter.

The reams of the cone-shaped head are also notoriously difficult to clean since bits and ground up pieces of citrus fruit can get stuck in the reams themselves.

And most importantly, citrus juicers can only juice citrus fruits. No other fruits or veggies will work with a citrus juicer, so your options are fairly limited there.

But if you don't think those cons are a problem and plan on juicing up a lot of citrus fruits, then a citrus juicers would definitely be the best choice.

Juice Yield

You will definitely need to be aware of just how much juice you can expect from your juicer.

This may seem obvious, but it's an important point all the same. Not all juicers yield the same amount of juice.

Some juicers are optimized with certain fruits and veggies more than others, which can affect how much juice you actually get.

And some juicers are simply more efficient than others, which can lead to more juice for you drinking pleasure. Masticating juicers, for example, tend to slowly squeeze out the most amount of juice while centrifugal juicers trade juice extraction for speed.

We prefer to have as much juice as possible (saves time and money on ingredients in the long run), but other people can value time over the lost juice.

Size of Juicer

The size of the juicer is important for a number of reasons.

First, the size will typically dictate how much fruit and veggies you can juice at once. If you want to make a lot of juice without needing to repeatedly use your juicer, then you'll want a larger size.

Second, the size will determine how large your fruit and veggie chunks can be for optimal juicing. If you want to save on prep time, then consider a larger juicer as they can handle larger ingredients.

Third, the size of your juicer impacts how much counter top space it takes up. It also impacts how easy it is to store. If you want a juicer that you can easily store after you are finished juicing, then consider a more compact or smaller juicer.

Each size has its advantages and disadvantages. But either way, you can rest easy knowing that you'll be able to make tasty juice.

Price and Value of Juicer

Again, this point may be kind of obvious. When it comes to picking the right juicer for your needs, you'll need to take your wallet into account.

But the listing price for a juicer isn't the end-all-be-all. There are a another factor to take into consideration.

Value.

The value of your juicer should also be looked at when judging the price. Here are some things to take into consideration when we talk about "value":

  • Ease and flexibility of ingredient extraction
  • Ease of clean up
  • Juice yield

Masticating juicers tend to be more expensive because they often outperform centrifugal juicers when it comes to these three points. They also tend to last longer, are more durable, and more consistent with their juicing ability.

Centrifugal juicers are typically less expensive and still function very well, though they struggle to meet the same quality of juice that masticating juicers can achieve. Outside of premium centrifugal juicers, these juicers tend to break down faster.

Citrus juicers are usually the cheapest of the bunch, especially if you get a manual one. Just expect to make up the difference in price with the time and energy spent manually extracting juice.

So while the cheaper option may seem to be the best fit, they may actually be more expensive in the long run. But if you are on a budget, then don't worry. There are still plenty of budget-friendly juicers that still work well and last long as long as they are well maintained.

Ease of Cleaning

Juicers in general can be a bit of a pain to clean.

The nature of slicing, grinding, squeezing, and twisting means that there is a lot of extra "stuff" that's left out of the juice and in the juicer.

Manual citrus juicers are a prime example of this; the twisting motion flicks fruit everywhere and the juice can spill on the counter if you aren't careful.

And if you are someone who doesn't like to spend a lot of time cleaning up (like us), then you'll want a juicer that can make cleaning a breeze.

Thankfully, many automated juicers make clean up at least a bit easier.

Unwanted pulp remains that would otherwise be left in the juicer can be filtered out in some juicer models. Others are designed to have the leftovers easily cleaned out and are dishwasher-safe.

So while things can get a bit messy, clean up doesn't have to be a chore with the right juicer.

Accessories + Special Features

Some juicers have built-in areas where you can use additional attachments.

Attachments allow you to get the most out of your juicer and prepare ingredients that you otherwise wouldn't be able to. Things like extra grinders, dedicated slicers, or even specialized mini-juicing parts are what you can expect. These attachments usually don't come with the juicer and are sold separately.

They are useful and can definitely add to your juicer. Just know that they are extras and not necessary for your juicer to work as intended.

Juicers can also come with unique features that improve the juicing experience. Dedicated timers, special settings, and other features can help you make your juice with a sort of ease that feels almost magical.

Special features won't save a bad juicer from under-performing, but they'll elevate a great juicer to new heights and are almost always worth the slight increase in price.
